screening SCHISMA - PART ONE was featured at the art exhibition "both ends burning" (11.09.05 - 16.10.05) organized by the Kunstverein Ludwigsburg.

plot The existential, eternal struggle between Black and White, Positive and Negative. Both mirrors of each other, they are on a crash course towards an event horizon where there can be only one...

info SCHISMA was an experimental student film project. It was made during the seminar Filmgestaltung 1 which was lectured by Prof. Jochen Kuhn in 2003
Originally SCHISMA was conceived as two parts (PART ONE & PART ZERO). The first one shows White defeating and becoming Black and the second part would've shown Black reconquer White. Due to time constraints (only 4 weeks time for the whole project), the second part was never completed. The city that can be seen in the far distance in the last shot would have played a more prominent role, as would've the two-faced god Janus, whose statues can be seen in PART ONE.
Experimental electronic tunes were composed by Carsten Raabe, fellow student in music and sound design.
The live-action elements were shot with a normal DV camera on an improvised bluescreen stage. The live-action shots were than integrated in animated 3d camera shots, quite the opposite procedure of normal tracking work.
